ON AND OFF THE PITCH - ITS MORE THAN JUST FOOTBALL

In August 2018 the season started in bright sunshine, here with our new girls trying football for the first time!
We also ran our popular Summer camp too.
Our U18s got on their Rainbow Laces in support of LGBT Day

Our U12 Tigers Team started to take shape.

Some of our boys were winning galas, or is that new new boy band?
Fundraising was in full swing with even Santa helping raise money for the new pitches
Mid winter, but the girls are still smiling at the Girls Gala at Harrogate Town
Our U18's played Bradford City and after several attempts earned a worthy draw!
Our boys continued success and more importantly fun in league matches and galas
Annual trip to Wembley was awesome yet again! Well done Wayne!
Now that is how to arrive at training! Special treat! Wow!

Another spectacular season, thanks to all our children, parents, coaches, committee, sponsors and partners.

ITS BEEN QUITE A SEASON!

In the last 12 months we have seen our pitches at last come to fruition. We moved mountains to make it happen. Twenty four thousand tonnes of soil, brought in by our good friends at HACS. An engineering design created by STRI and approved by everyone from HBC, NYCC, Scotton Parish Council and many more!. Funded by amazing fundraising from everyone in the club and of course a grant from the Football Foundation, developed with West Riding County FA. With the base in place Cleveland Land Services have built the pitches and developed them in to incredible community facilities, which will benefit generations for years to come.
We took a former household tip site and made it in to something special.

Opening day Sunday 15th September 2019. Formal handover Saturday 2nd November 2019.

Layers and layers of soil, quality checked at each stage, building up the base to ensure on completion there are no dips or subsidence.
Edging off to integrate the base in to the existing space and developing the carpark

Drains going in and a race against time!

If we dont get the seed in now, then the we wont be on the pitch until 2020!

Winters coming, but the draimage works perfectly as planned! Those guys at STRI and Cleveland Land services knew what they were doing.
Its still really wet, but here comes the grass. Planted just before Winter sets in and in view in November 18

By June its looking really good! and with 5 months more TLC its going to be amazing. Cant wait to get the games on!!

U11's Start Season In Style

Match Report
CYGFL U11s Girls Development League
Poppleton JFC v Scotton Scorchers JFC
Saturday 16th September 2016

Well here it is! The first match report of the season, with the Scotton Scorchers U11s Girls playing their very first match in a formal league.

Due to low numbers available to Poppleton, who kindly rescheduled the fixture to their ground, Scotton U11s girls squad were able to attend two fixtures today – the U11s at Poppleton and the U10s at HDGFL Gala in Boroughbridge.

And so to Poppleton – the Scorchers girls arrived in a happy mood, excitement of playing their first league fixture. It was a cool, typical autumnal morning, the sun trying to shine through, with the odd shower - but this was not to deter the Scorchers girls.
After a good warm-up with Martin, the girls in our famous black/red stripes gathered for a brief team talk with Wayne.....his last comment to them.... ‘Go and enjoy it girls!!’
Unfortunately, Wayne had to be the man in the middle, so Martin ensured the team were ready for kick off and raring to go!
In the first half, Seren lead the attack, with Kate in midfield and Eleanor and Katherine at the back with the ever reliable safe hands in goal....Jeorgia!

The Scorchers started well, taking control of the game. Lots of good passing between the team, with great runs forward from Kate and Seren. Numerous times, the Scorchers girls got beyond the Poppleton defence, but their keeper seemed to be the one to beat.
However, finally a breakthrough.. Some great passing before a quick run forward from Florence, finding Seren ... goal 1-0 to Scotton.
This didn’t deter Poppleton, who had some great runs forward also, using the pitch and testing the Scorchers defence and Jeorgia...! But, this seemed to spur the girls in red and black on... another great passing move started by Elenor, and finished by Eleanor interchanging with Florence (Seren who had now switched to defense)...2-0 to Scotton.
Another great move followed, a surging run forward by Seren, who beat the Poppleton keeper... 3-0 to Scotton.
Again, from the kick-off, Poppleton pushed forward again but the efforts were comfortably saved by Jeorgia.
Katherine and Eleanor were working well together at the back, and Seren and Florence were making some great attacking runs towards the Poppleton area.
A great start by Scotton. Let’s not forget though, Poppleton were not out of this match, making great runs forward but our ever reliable GK – Jeorgia, coping well with every shot coming her way.
Half Time...3-0 to Scotton!!
So the second half line up – Evie in goal, with Ella and Madeline in defence, Kate and Lily B doing the dual midfield/attack roles.
It was a great start by the Scorchers, a surging run from defence by Madeline, a run that nearly paid off with a goal... for Madeline. A great solo effort, but the Poppleton keeper managed to save the shot.
Ella and Madeline were keeping the girls in orange at bay, but within a few minutes it was soon to be another goal ... to the girls in red/black. Another great attacking move from Kate and Lily B – both interchanging some slick passing... and Lily B got her goal...4-0 to Scotton.
Martin changed things round, with Ella going into an unfamiliar attacking role, with Kate switching to the defence.
Undeterred by the score line, Poppleton surged forward, Evie making some fantastic saves one after another (Scotton’s very own Joe Hart)!!
A brief lapse in concentration by the Scorchers girls... a goal to Poppleton.... 4-1 it was.
However, the final whistle soon blew ...
Full Time -4-1 to the Scotton Scorchers!
A great result, a great team performance and some happy girls in red& black!!
However, credit must also go to the Poppleton girls – irrespective of the score, they still worked hard and didn’t let their heads drop. I’m sure it’ll be a close encounter in the return fixture at Scotton.
Some fantastic football from both teams played in a great spirit and both teams I’m sure will be looking forward to their next fixtures in the CYGFL.

A friendly game followed, with Madeline and Evie being happy to volunteer to were orange to balance up the teams so everyone played. Lily B needed a short rest, but was soon to take charge of goal, so that Georgia could play outfield.

It was also pleasing to see the ever so positive support and lots of clapping from all of the parents... both players and parents making each other proud!!
Congratulations too to Lily B on being awarded the ‘Respect Player of the Day’!!
This was a great start to the season....! Well done everyone!!

Go Scorchers!!

Line Ups         1st Half           Jeorgia, Katherine, Elenor, Florence, Seren
2nd Half          Evie, Ella, Madeline, Kate, Lily B

U13s Play Their First Game in Their New Strip

Yesterday the girls made the short trip to Poppleton to play their first game in their brand new strip kindly sponsored by Evans Halshaw Harrogate Hyundai.

Unfortunately for the U13s they are without their goalkeeper who has broken her wrist so lets hope she makes a speedy recovery soon. GET WELL ASAP.

The team welcomed 2 new players in Keira and Charley who both had great debuts and thanks to Therese who helped out due to the team being short of players.
Abs skippered again and shared the goalkeeping duties with Connie, well done girls putting the team first.

The girls were just adjusting to the new personnel when Poppleton scored a screamer into the top corner from long range. Nothing anybody could about that.
In the second half the Scorchers fought back and Abs popped up with another goal to level the scores.
Poppleton then lay siege to the Scotton goal but the girls held firm and were defending amazingly but just when it looked like they might hold out for the draw Poppleton sneaked in a low shot and snatch the win.

Tough on the girls but no complaints, another great game of football and plenty for the girls to work on. If this is an indication of things to come then the future looks.....Scorching!!!!

The girls looking splendid in their new strip.

Girl of the game went to Lucy for another great performance in defence, well played.

U13s Get Off To A Great Start

The U13s travelled to York RI for their first game of the season. With the girls making the change from 7 a side to 9 a side it was a huge leap into the unknown.
With only 1 practice game under their belt and not even the full team being together once the girls acquitted themselves really well.

The Scorchers had to play with only the 9 players and no subs so every girl had to pay their part and they certainly did. Abs was outstanding as skipper and bagged herself a hat-trick, Livi and Connie grabbing a goal each as they finished 5-0 winners.

Picking player of the game was nearly impossible as every girl was oustanding but after a lot of thought it went to Jasmine for her 'David Battyesque' game in the middle of the park. All game she broke up York RI's attacks and played great simple passes which launched attack after attack.

A big thankyou to York RI for switching the game to their place and also for the excellent sausage sandwiches that all the girls from both teams enjoyed.

A great morning's football played in a great spirit.

                                                                  GO SCORCHERS!
